Description

Hill Country charm meets storybook cabin living at 501 Oak Knob Drive in Wimberley. Set on 5 beautiful acres in River Oaks, this authentic log cabin retreat offers dark starry skies, views of the Devil's Backbone, and access to a private park along the Blanco River. Outdoor living is truly special here. The home faces a grove of old-growth oaks, with a limestone path leading to a stone patio that overlooks a deep wet weather creek. The covered front porch has a stone pond (with lily pads, goldfish and mosquito fish) that also supplies drinking water to wildlife. The land offers low maintenance xeriscaping around the cabin, a beautiful mix of wooded and open areas, and plenty of friendly birds and deer! This home features 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 full baths, a soaring vaulted ceiling, and an open living/kitchen/dining area anchored by a wood-burning stove on a stone hearth. Rich wood walls and cabinetry create warmth throughout, balanced by beautiful Saltillo tile floors and abundant natural light. Kitchen remodel includes gorgeous granite countertops, new sink, refreshed cabinetry and a new stove. Upstairs, the private primary suite features a spa-like walk-in shower and balcony with views of the Devil's Backbone. Two large downstairs bedrooms can both accommodate king-sized beds, including one with direct access to a shaded fenced yard perfect for pets. Plenty of closets provide organized living. Other features include reliable high-speed internet for remote work, a carport with workshop, a storage shed, and a greenhouse. River Oaks owners enjoy access to a private Blanco River park with natural limestone shelves, cypress-lined river frontage, and swimming. Downtown Wimberley is not far, via scenic River Road, and is known for its restaurants, wineries, shops and art galleries. Wimberley continues to expand protected parkland and nature preserves, and was named the 2023 International Dark Sky Place of the Year.
